Founded in 2007, Pressing Concern Books is a very small press publisher primarily interested in gender, education, and the politics of globalism. Our current initiative is the Pressing Concern Book Marks, a series of very short essays bound into extremely tiny books, released as a special-edition set of bookmarks. As the name would indicate, these essays convey both pausing and urgency, rest and anxiety. Bookmark enthusiasts the world over clamor for them. Everyone else complains that they are too short for a book, and have too many words for a bookmark. Concerns regarding what should and should not be published under what name are not the concern of Pressing Concern.
All proceeds (minus materials and shipping) from the second title in the Pressing Concern Book Marks series were donated to legal support groups aiding protesters arrested during the uprisings of spring and summer 2020. This title is currently out of print.
The project is inspired by a 2004 project of the Seattle Research Institute.
We now offer shipping to Canada and Europe as well as the United States. If you are a retail store, please inquire after wholesale pricing of 15 or more books via our Contact page. Other queries may also be forwarded at that location. Please bear with us as we continue to populate this online retail establishment with all the Pressing Concern wares you know and love, including mostly books, as well as, well, let's just say books. In the meantime, you can still find us online here.
